In the science fiction thriller Signs, M. Night Shyamalan displays a family that discovers there is a reason behind everything. This movie features Mel Gibson (Graham), Joaquin Phoenix (Merrill), Abagail Breslin (Bo), and Rory Culkin (Morgan). It's rated PG-13 for some scenes that might be a little frightening for younger children. Signs takes place in a modern day farm in Pennsylvania.
Graham, an ex-minister, has lost all his faith after losing his wife in a terrible accident. Now that there are aliens attacking the world he must gain his faith back to survive. Bo, Morgan, and Merrill are all counting on Graham to stay strong and believe. The family has to come over a lot of obstacles with everything going on. Not only are aliens attacking but Graham and his family are slowly falling apart and in order to survive they must reunite and come back together stronger than ever.
The theme of the movie Signs is everything happens for a reason. As you watch the movie you will see little things that you seem like they mean nothing at all, but in the end they mean everything. Just one thing can change everything. For example if the mom would have never died in the accident they would have never heard her last words which in the end give them the answer to the problem. Also, if Bo wouldn't have thought the water was contaminated then, in the end they probably wouldn't have survived.
The acting was astonishing in Signs. The actors showed emotions and made it seem real. I wouldn't have chosen any other actors to play the roles of the characters. Bo would pit a smile on your face whenever nobody else could. For example, when everybody was worried about the aliens Bo made everybody smile and chuckle. You could tell that all the actors were really getting into their character.
I really enjoyed the movie.I wold recommend this movie to anybody. I think that no matter what your favorite genre of movie is you would enjoy this movie. M. Night Shyamalan did an amazing job writing and creating this movie. The actors that were chosen did a wonderful job, they make the movie ten times better. I give this movie two thumbs up, and a pat on the back for the actors and M. Night Shyamalan.
